I am Allison Kalsched, a NASM certified personal trainer who works with men and women at all levels of fitness. Whether you are an athlete, a weekend warrior training for an event, or just trying to get back in shape, I will work with you to achieve your fitness goals.
Through discipline and work, together we can accomplish great things. I strive to help each client push through the doubts, the long to-do list of life, and the fear of commitment to a healthier lifestyle. Over and over, I see clients find that connection that gets them motivated, whether it's fitting into that old pair of jeans, sleeping better, seeing definition in their arms, or just liking what they see in the mirror. It's those moments that convince us that there is a connection between desire and result, and that with a little work and a commitment, we can get to place where we decide we don't want to turn back to our old lifestyle. I love those moments.
I run an outdoor bootcamp in spring, summer and fall, and see clients privately at the Millburn Short Hills Athletic Club. I do occasionally work with people in their own homes.
My personal interest in working with others stems from my passion for triathlon, swimming, biking and running. I like to push my clients to achieve their fitness goals and I strive to make each and every workout fun and unique.
The idea for Backyard Boot Camp came in Fall 2013. With little time in my schedule, I would exercise outside in my very own backyard. I quickly realized that others would likely enjoy the opportunity to have a trainer work with a small group of their friends in a backyard in good weather, leading them through a series of challenging and fun exercises. Since then, it has grown into a regularly scheduled outdoor group exercise class that takes place in Maplecrest Park in Maplewood, New Jersey.
Boot camps are active. Participants move for an hour, increasing their heart rate, building lean muscle and increasing physical endurance. It's a challenging hour, and it is accessible to all as each exercise can be modified to fit each participant's level of fitness. It's a guarantee that after a boot camp session you will feel motivated, energized, happy (everyone is happy after a workout) and satisfied.
And working in a group has proven benefits! Participants in group exercise are motivated by their peers, receive support and encouragement along the way. By partaking in a weekly class, participants also receive the benefits of regular exercise. If you are just starting out on your fitness journey, this is especially important!
Happy Boot Campers!
Let us help your employees move better, feel better, and work better!
Research has shown that sitting for as little as two continuous hours can be detrimental to people’s health. This is because:
-Inactivity increases incidence of back, hip, and neck pain.
-Compromised posture increases the risk of digestive and cardiovascular disease, along with certain cancers.
-And, current research shows remaining sedentary can negatively affect your mood.
Any one of these ailments can reduce productivity and lead to increased absence from work. When you consider Americans spend an average of 13 hours a day sitting, it’s no surprise businesses in the United States lose and estimated $225 billion annually due to absenteeism. That’s almost $1700 per employee!
Making small shifts in how we sit, stand, and move during the day can create large shifts in your employees’ health, happiness, and productivity. That’s why we developed Longevity@Work.
Longevity@Work helps your employees move better, feel better and, therefore, work better. During the session employees will learn “micromovements” that will help reduce their risk of back, hip and neck pain. The “micromovement” exercises are simple, extremely effective, and require no equipment.
After participating Longevity@Work employees will be able to incorporate the “micromovements” into their daily routines, enabling them to feel better and more energized.
